About The Founder: Eileen Grimes

This all began as a love letter to my children.

I created The Us Journal to help them feel seen, to remind them their emotions were welcome, and that they never had to shrink to belong.

But the real beginning came earlier, quiet and unexpected.

One night, I sat down and wrote my eulogy.
Not as a prompt or a performance, but as a way to ask myself, If it ended now, what would be left behind?

That moment cracked something open.
I didn’t know it yet, but it marked the beginning of my own descent.
The start of the spiral.

Over time, I let go of old roles and quiet expectations.
I moved through grief, creative disconnection, and the slow unraveling of who I thought I had to be.
I came back to my body. I remembered the Earth. I began to listen—not only to others, but to the parts of myself I had long silenced.
